Manage course access

It is important to configure the access settings for your course!

Here you have a few options.

1. Open courses

Everybody on the platform can join this course.

Best suited for you if you want to push free education or offer massive open only courses (MOOCs)

2. Limited open courses

You can also create a free course that is only accessible to a certain group of students

E-Mail adress validation

Courses where only students that have a certain verified email address can join this course.

Best suited for educators at universities, schools or organizations

Code enrollment

You can create custom codes that allow a certain number of users to join your course with a valid code.

You can always use codes (also in paid courses) so this feature is not in the list and does not have to be activated

Best suited for (solo) educators offering tutoring or teachers at university/school.

3. Paid courses

Courses that the end user is charged for with a one time fee.

Content Network Access

You can access all content that was created on Studymaniac that was shared.

Content Network Provision

Your content is accessible to other creators and contributes to our mission of global connected learning materials.

Free Courses

If you want to offer free courses without having your content in our content network, you have to pay a small fee per student.

Paid Courses

For paid courses that take part in the Content Network Provision, they get to keep 90% of their revenue on our platform (after payment fees). Of course nobody is allowed to copy your course, as this would be against our Terms of Service and will result in a ban. Please contact us if you have any questions on this matter at info@studymaniac.de!

If you sell your courses you have the option to opt out of the content network provision and not share your content with other educators. This means that you only get to keep 80% of the revenue of your courses as profit (after payment fees).

If you change your mind, everybody who uses content originally created by you will be noticed and remove the content from their courses within 6 months (then it will be removed automatically). You can change this setting for your course once a year.

Costs

For free courses the costs are currently at 0$ for basic courses up to 100 students. There may be additional features that you can use in the future, where you would have to pay (e.g. ChatGPT trained on your course with sources). All these features will be optional.

If you are teaching at a school or university, we allow courses up to 1000 students to be free. If you plan to have more students, please contact us at info@studymaniac.de and we can work something out for sure!

For paid courses the costs are calculated per sale at the moment and depend on your setting regarding the Content Network Provision (10% or 20%). If we recognize people abusing our code enrollment feature, we will introduce a small monthly fee to cover that.
